Making memories

13/12/2019

The season of retrospective and balance has started. We look back through the months we are leaving behind and we ponder all the things we lived, how much we have grown and how much we have taught.

How many things have happened this year that won’t happen again? How many stories did we convey? How many memories have we built?

This has been a hard year for me. Moving from home has been a huge challenge but settling in a new country has nothing to do with flying away.

Things have changed: I lost a loved pet, I gave a huge twist to my brand which has been difficult, I realized that learning a new language takes not only time and money but also courage, that being an immigrant is surrounded by a lot of vulnerability and some days I doubt I was resilient enough to deal with all this.

But I also met wonderful people, I learned a lot, I bonded with my family so much more and so much deeper, and we laughed so much together.

“We didn’t realize we were making memories, we just knew we were having fun”

Every year starting is a brand new book to write. But it always comes with its own prequel.
We built memories every day, every hour. And every one of them is the foundation of the ones to come. The meaningful ones are not always the good ones, life is a crazy rollercoaster and we go up and down with it and we even yell sometimes while going on.

We always read and hear we should “embrace the chaos”. Oh, but nobody tells us how hard it could get sometimes.

Yet here I am, embracing the chaos one more time, ready to start writing new memories and willing to make a ton of photos of them.

And you? How are you expecting the new year? Are you ready?
